Spring Holidays 2005 in Russia

The first spring holidays in Russia on the 1st of May is currently over. This year, 2005, 1st of May was not only the day when the people in Russia celebrated the Day of Labour and Peace, but also on the same day was Orthodox Easter here. Everybody celebrated these holidays and we were treated couple of days to some great weather here in Moscow! A lot of people spent these days in Parks, walking all together around famous city sights with their kids, relatives and friends after cold and long winter time in Russia. As usual, a lot of families went out for their first trips out of city to spend holidays on their dachas (summer houses) at Moscow Region.

I was working during these holidays with a tourist from Chicago, US. He is retired engineer, pilot, and it was very nice to communicate with him. We spent great time during 3 days for sightseeing, visiting most interesting places (Kremlin, GUM, Victory Park, Metro, VVTs, Cathedrals and convents, driving tour "City at Night" and more...), some good restaurants where we had Russian and Ukrainian cuisine. Unfortunately, the Red Square is closed during the holidays until 10th of May for security and practice proposes to provide worker's and military parades on 1st and 9th of May accordingly.

Moscow is already prepared now for our important holiday "Victory Day", May 9th. This holiday commemorating the capitulation of Nazi Germany on May 9, 1945. On this year will be the 60th anniversary of our Victory.
I took a lot of new photos during the holidays from 30th of April till 2d May working with tourist from Chicago and will try to upload some interesting pictures for you as I have free time.
