«Frothy Water Jets of the Stone Flower Fountain»

View from Central Alley on the mighty frothy jets of water of the Stone Flower Fountain under clouds in a summer day. Ukraine (Agriculture) pavilion is in the background of the composition. Designed by the architect Konstantin Topuridze, the central structure of the fountain depicts enormous flower with petals made of individual cobalt glass pieces atop a two-tier marble base with sculptural clusters surrounding its perimeter. To decorate the Stone Flower bowl, two types of smalt were used: colored marbled glass from opaque stained glass and multi-colored cantarel. Restored in 2018-2019, the Stone Flower fountains consist of 988 water jets that sprout out about 2,000 liters of water per second.
