The Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (Russian: Vystavka Dostizheniy Narodnogo Khozyaystva, abbreviated as VDNKh or VDNH) is one of the most popular public places of Moscow. It is a permanent general purpose trade show and beautiful amusement park that includes a huge botanical garden. VDNKh has no analogs in the world. The complex includes more than 500 permanent structures, 49 of them are objects of cultural heritage. The grand opening of the exhibition took place on 1 August 1939.

Refectory with the Church of St. Sergius
Refectory with the Church of St. Sergius

By the end of the 17th century the number of the monks considerably grew and the old Refectory couldn't satisfy the needs of the monastery. Instead of it, a new very large building of the Refectoiry with the church dedicated to St. Sergius was erected by order of Peter I in 1686-1692 as thanks from the Tsar for the monastery where he twice took refuge when he was young.
