Assumption Cathedral

The Cathedral of Assumption (Dormition) is the key highlight of Cathedral Square. It is the main church of Moscow Kremlin where, besides regular services, coronations of Moscow Grand Princes and Russian Tsars, inaugurations of Metropolitans and Patriarchs of Russian Orthodox Church occurred, as well as many important church rituals and state events were held. In present time it is opened as museum and services provided here only on main church feasts. The remarkably harmonious building of the church built of white stone by design of Italian architect Aristotle Fioravanti in 1475-1479 until present days strikes an onlooker with its majestic tranquility and magnificence.
