«Interior of Assumption Cathedral (Central View)»

The central part of the Cathedral of the Assumption (Dormition) of Our Lady with view on the red and gold wooden carved iconostasis (icon stand) between columns (pillars) supporting vaults. Ancient frescoes (about 1400) of Russian icon painter Andrei Rublev can be seen on the wall at the left and right sides of the iconostasis. The church built in 1399 is the oldest and most ancient witness of Muscovite architecture in the Moscow Region included into the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites.
