Assumption Cathedral
Cathedral of the Assumption (Dormition) of Our Lady in the old area of Zvenigorod (Gorodok) is the oldest and most ancient witness of the past events in Muscovite Rus (In present Moscow Region). The fully preserved example of 14th-century Muscovite architecture, the Assumption Cathedral was constructed in 1399. The cathedral's interior features frescoes attributed to Andrei Rublev (about 1400). It is one of the few orthodox churches opened in Soviet time (it was closed only in 1938-1946). The Assumption Cathedral is included into the UNESCO list.
