Assumption Church

The first stone Church of Assumption was built on a hill near Serpukhov Kremlin in the area of the former market place in 1744. After being damaged by fire in 1817, the temple was reconstructed on the means of Nikolay Maksimovich Konshin (1798-1853), the honored citizen of Serpukhov and owner of several factories in the city. About 2,5 thousand people worked on his factories at that time. The church was consecrated in 1854, already after his death. During the reconstruction the hill on which stands Assumption church was covered with white stone and makes a look that it was built on a stone pediment.
