Angels and Apostles at Sunset

Fragment exterior decoration of the Church of the Theotokos of the Sign at Dubrovitsy with angels and apostles illuminated with warm light by the last rays of the setting sun.

The beautiful church in Dubrovitsy Estate was erected by Italian masters in 1690 according to the order of prince Golitsyn, a teacher of Peter the Great. Its splendid exterior shows the best features of European Baroque and elaborately decorated with statues of saints, apostles and angels.
