«Main Buildings of Kazansky Railway Station on a Cloudy Winter Day»

View from Komsomolskaya (former Kalanchevskaya) square on the main buildings of magnificent Kazansky Railway Station on a cloudy winter day. The station is recognized as the largest in Russia, its area is 120 000 sq.m. and it serves over 100 000 passengers daily. The main buildings of the station were constructed in 1913-1926 by the project of architect Alexey Shchusev in the style of Russian national architecture, with a 73-meter high tower in the center. Due to the scale of the station, it is able to serve three directions at once: East (Kazan, Yekaterinburg, and points beyond) and South-East (Ryazan, the rout to Kazakhstan), and South (Adler).
