«Amazing Frescoes on the Vaults of the Trinity Cathedral»

Beautiful fresco paintings on the vaults of the Trinity Cathedral, the main church of the Holy Trinity-St. Daniel monastery in Pereslavl-Zalessky. The temple was erected by order of Vasiliy III (Basil III) in 1530-1532 in connection with the birth of the heir of the Grand Prince of Moscow, the future first Russian tsar Ivan IV (The Terrible). The church is a simple and yet elegant structure built by canons of Russian-Byzantine architecture. In the 1660s the cathedral was painted by artists under the leadership of the prominent Russian icon painters, Sila Savin and Guriy Nikitin. Some of the frescoes have survived to this day.
