The Ruins of the Basilica 1935 on the Sea Shore of Chersonesos

The most eye-catching construction and certain symbol of Chersoneses is the ruins of the basilica on the very seashore. They can be seen on numerous postcards. Now it is called 1935 Basilica, according to the date of its discovery. The Christian temple was built in the 6th century. The basilica was lavishly decorated with sculptures, mosaic work covering the floor, with marble plates and fresco painting on the walls. Splendid marble columns brought to Chersonesos from the Islands of the Marble Sea are still preserved.
