«Ensemble of Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery at the End of Winter»

View of the beautiful architectural ensemble of Savvino-Storozhevsky monastery on a sunny day after the last heavy snowfall at the end of a mild winter and beginning of the early spring in the Moscow region.

The monastery in Zvenigorod was reconstructed in the middle of the 17th century on the money commissioned from Tsar Alexis (Aleksey Michailovich), father of Peter I (The Great), he visited this place many times. On this picture you can see the tallest building of the monastery – The Bell Tower (at the left), the powerful Krasnye Vorota (Red Gates) that was the main entrance inside the monastery before it was reconstructed (in the middle), and Tsarina's Chambers with a porch that was built by tsar Alexis for his first wife (at the right).

Photo #078 taken on March 16, 2020 during the one-day personal tour to Zvenigorod with my Dear clients from Australia, Jeff and Helen Wiltshire.
