Sign “Ploshchad Revolyutsii” in Archway with Bronze Figures
Archway in Revolution Square (Russian: Пло?щадь Револю?ции, Ploshchad Revolyutsii) station of Moscow Metro that built by design of Architect Alexey Dushkin in 1938 based on the ambitious idea of creating a gallery of figures of the revolution and the “new world”. The lower section of the walls, faced with black and gold Davalu marble, was turned into a huge pedestal, and the arches of dark-red Shrosha into heavy frames for the bronze sculpture. Each arch is flanked by a pair of bronze sculptures by Matvey Manizer depicting the people of the Soviet Union. On this picture you can see a border guard with dog at the left and Voroshilov gunner girl at the right.
