Portrait of first Russian tsar was created by E.I. Bryagin in Moscow in 1935: Wooden panel, gesso ground, tempera.

Ivan The Terrible (Ivan IV) (1533-1584) was initiator of construction of the Intersession Cathedral to commemorate the victory of Russian army over the Kazan Khanate (part of Tatar and Mongol Kingdom called "Golden Horde") in 1552.
