Baskets from Birch Bark

Russian handmade baskets at the craft market "Vernisazh" in Izmailovo.

Basketry is widely accepted as the oldest known form of handicraft of mankind. Since ancient times, people have constructed baskets to fill specific needs: to carry, store collect and display. This picture I took during shopping with my Dear Client Bobbi Baker, very nice American lady from Chicago, who worked all her life on radio making comedy shows, famous as "Baker Sisters".
