«Wooden House with Mezzanine Framed by Rowan Trees»

Angle view on a wooden house with mezzanine framed by flowers and rowan trees on the grounds of Pokrovsky (Intercession) convent in Suzdal in the summer season. It is a traditional Russian countryside dwelling. Mezzanine is the upper half-floor of a house that includes elements of classical architecture in combination with Russian folk wood carving. Such houses were especially popular in the early 19th century.

Under the Tent-Like Canopy Over the Cross

The colorful tent-like canopy over the cross-shaped fountain was built in 1872 in the middle of Cathedral Square of Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra. In summer season, the fountain receives water from the spring located inside the Chapel-over-the-Well, the nice pink building in background of this picture constructed at the end of the 17th century and richly decorated in style of Muscovite baroque.
