«Monastic Garden and Annunciation Church Framed By Trees»

The beautiful gardens with colorful flowers planted in summer season on the grounds of St. Nicholas Convent along the road to the winter Church of Annunciation of Our Lady, painted in bright yellow and green colors. The church was built in 1748 (to replace the church of Our Lady of Kazan which was burnt in 1745) on donations from Maxim and Ivan Schelyagins (on their donations Holy Gates were also constructed). At the end of 19th – beginning of 20th century the convent was one of the richest cloisters of Pereslavl-Zallesky and it remains one of the well-maintained and prosperous convents in present days.

Photo #460 taken on June 08, 2014 during long distance countryside tour of the Golden Ring of Russia towns, Pereslavl-Zallesky and Sergiyev Posad, with my Dear client from USA, Jan Squires.
