Military aerobatics teams of Russian Air Force “Strizhi” (Swifts) on four red MiG-29 (Fulcrum by NATO classification) and “Russkiye Vityazi” (Russian Knights) on five blue Su-30SM (Flanker-H by NATO classification) fighter jets form unique diamond-shaped figure against blue sky background fly over Red Square during airshow rehearsal of May 9 Victory Parade 2019 to commemorate the 74th anniversary of the capitulation of Nazi Germany in 1945.

MiG-29 was designed to gain air supremacy. Aircraft is a way to solve such tasks as intercepting and attacking air targets in free airspace, conducting maneuverable single and group air combat, direct support to ground forces, defeat moving and stationary, ground (surface) targets.

Su-30SM was designed to master the skills of piloting, navigation and the basic principles of using multi-channel weapons, mastering “super-maneuverability” modes, destroying air targets in free space and on the ground, day and night, in simple and complex weather conditions, using active and passive interference, and gaining superiority in the air, long-distance patrols and tracking, destruction of ground and surface targets in a difficult jamming environment, with no support for ground-based control and guidance systems in group and single air battles.
