Mezhdurechensk

Mezhdurechensk is located in the south of Western Siberia, between the Tom and Usa rivers, in the south-eastern part of the Kuznetsk coal basin (Kuzbass). It was established in 1948 and granted town status in 1955.

The city has the largest mine in Russia “Raspadskaya”, in which on May 8-9, 2010, two explosions of methane occurred. Mezhdurechensk is surrounded not only by two clear rivers but also by mountains. In 60 km to the east of the city, there is the mountain range of the Celestial Teeth, which is popular with Siberian tourists making summer hiking and winter skiing trips.
