The glorious white stone church of Transfiguration (Preobrazheniya) in Ostrov is the one of the few tent-shaped tower churches in the Moscow area. It was built at South-East of Moscow city in the second half of the 16th century as a part of royal estate of Ivan IV (The Terrible).
