In 1990s, the side of the Vernisazh craft market, adjacent to the pond, was surrounded by a high and mighty medieval-style wooden fence and towers. Location of the Izmailovo Kremlin on the high hill, surrounded with these mighty fence and towers, serves as a remembrance of the former grandeur of tsar’s residence.

State Historical Museum

The magnificent building of State Historical Museum was built on Red Square near Moscow Kremlin in 1875-1881 by Russian architect Vasiliy Shervud and engineer Alexander Semenov in the pseudo-Russian style of architecture.
