Gilded Statutes of Soviet Republics at Sunset

The view on the beautiful gilded statues of maidens in the national costumes of the sixteen Soviet republics demurely encircle a golden wheat sheaf of the fountain "Friendship of Nations" in background of the recently restored the 97-metre tall main pavilion “House of Nations of Russia” on Kolkhoz Square on a nice summer evening at sunset. The People's Friendship fountain is the largest fountain at the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy (VDNKh). It was opened in 1954 and became the symbol which reflects the celebration and high spirits associated with the victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945, embodying the national dream of prosperity in the whole world.
