Statuettes of Soviet Skiers
Display with porcelain sculptures of athletes of Leningrad Porcelain Factory from the private collection of Andrey Gnatyuk from the Exhibition «Beauty of success. Soviet Sport» in GUM. The exhibition dedicated to Soviet sport in painting, graphic arts and sculpture was opened at the end of January 2014, a week before 22nd Winter Olympic Games in Sochi by Bosco company, the official sponsor of the Russian Olympic and Paralympic teams. In Soviet times sport was one of the most successful «brands» of the era, which gave artists an opportunity to freely create and show their admiration for the human body not worrying about any risks as that was the only true trend in the art. Not only famous athletes became the prototypes of their creation, but sometimes those were some neighbor boys.
