Cornucopia Hair Pin
Features: hairpin 7.5 x 7.5 cm (2,95 x 2,95 in) made exclusively of brilliants in whimsical design and asymmetrical composition characteristic of the Rococo style; transparent, sparkling brilliants of different sizes are arranged to produce maximum effect from each stone individually and the item as a whole.
Origin: made by Louis-David Duvall around 1780
A hairpin seems to be quite a functional thing but at the last quarter of the XVIII century when Classicism was on the way to substitute the lavish Rococo style even such a trifle was made in accordance with the canons of fine art meeting the demands of ladies of high society.
