Sculpture of the Worker and Collective Farmer
The front angle view the iconic soviet monument - the Worker and the Collective Farmer (Rabochiy i Kolkhoznitsa) that stands in front of one of entrances into VDNKh exhibition center. The impressive 24,5 meter sculpture was created by artist Vera Mukhina to crown the 37-meter-high Soviet pavilion of the World’s Fair in Paris in 1937. The weight of the monument made of steel is about 80 tons.
In 2009, after long restoration the grand statues of the worker and farmer that became symbol of former USSR were placed on the high pedestal (34,5 meters / 113 ft) combines with pavilion for exhibits inside.
