Soviet Star Under Dome of Ground Vestibule of Arbatskaya Station
The station was opened on May 15, 1935 during the first stage of the Moscow Metropolitan and called after Arbat street. Its star-shaped vestibule became a target for German bombers in wartime. One bomb exploded near the entrance to the station and the metro stretch was badly damaged. Fortunately, the vestibule preserved. Its dome inside is painted in yellow color and decorated with red Soviet star with gear inside, the feature of constructivism art that was popular in 1920s-30s.
