Monastery under Clouds
Beautiful landscape with a cloudy sky and a view of the Spaso-Yakovlevsky Monastery (Monastery of St. Jacob) founded at the end of 14th century on the way from an ancient town Rostov Velikiy (Rostov The Great) to Moscow.
Situated 220 km (137 miles) northeast of Moscow on the shores of Lake Nero, Rostov Velikiy is one of the oldest towns of the so-called «Golden Ring of Russia». It was first mentioned in the ancient chronicles in the year 862 and the land here is widely considered as the «cradle» of the Russian state.
In my opinion, the endless flat landscape with views of churches is very typical image of central part of Russia. Of course, there are also forests, rivers and lakes here, but I will show it in my other photos dedicated to the Russian countryside. :-)
Photo #508 taken on September 03, 2014 during long distance countryside tour of the Golden Ring of Russia towns with my Dear clients from Bolivia, Alejandro and Federico Roman.
