Magnificent Assumption Cathedral framed by Trees in Spring
The view in spring time from Ivan the Great Square on the Assumption (Dormition) Cathedral that is the main church and the key highlight of Cathedral Square in Moscow Kremlin. The remarkably harmonious building of the church built of white stone by design of Italian architect Aristotle Fiorovanti in 1475-1479 until present days strikes an onlooker with its majestic tranquility and magnificence.
At the Assumption Cathedral, the main church of the Kremlin, besides regular services, coronations of Moscow Grand Princes and Russian Tsars, inaugurations of Metropolitans and Patriarchs of Russian Orthodox Church occurred, as well as many important church rituals and state events were held. In present time it is opened as museums and services provided here only on main church feasts.
