Magnificent White Stone Carving

St. Demetrius Cathedral in Vladimir is famous for its white stone reliefs. Despite the small size of the building, the carving gives it the grandeur and monumentality. There are over 1000 reliefs on the facade of the cathedral. They reflect the whimsical painting of the world where Christian images coexist in harmony with the images of pagan mythology and medieval subjects of literature.
