Holy Spirit Church and Flowerbed (front angle view)
Fron angle view from the middle of Cathedral Square on the elegant Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and flowerbed in front of it against blue sky with puffy clouds in a nice summer day. It was built on the grounds of Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad in 1476 by several Pskovian masters personally invited by Grand Prince of Moscow Ivan III The Great. The Holy Spirit Church is one of the few remaining examples of a Russian church topped with a bell tower. Every morning and evening before service starts in Lavra, a monk (bell ringer) climbs a long ladder attached to the wall to ring the bells (there is no staircase leading to the belfry inside the church).
