At the Entrance into St. Nikon Church and Serapion's Chamber
The Nikon annex and the Serapion tent, where several of Sergius' disciples were interred, were added to the Trinity Cathedral on the grounds of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra in the early 16th century by order of the Grand Duke of Moscow, Vasily III (Basil III).
The beautiful blue cupolas of the one-dome church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit Upon the Apostles (1476) and five-dome Dormition (Assumption) Cathedral (second half of 16th century) are behind the golden cupola of St. Nikon church in background of this picture.
