Lavish Decorations of Vaults of Dormition Cathedral
Lavish decorations on blue-painted vaults and top of the richly carved wooden iconostasis of Dormition Cathedral of the virgin (Uspensky Sobor, Assumption cathedral). The church on the grounds of Gorutsky monastery in Pereslavl-Zalessky was constructed in the 1750s with baroque and neoclassical elements in the manner of the prominent Moscow architect Karl Blank on money commissioned from Empress Elizabeth Petrovna, daughter of Peter the Great.
Photo #142 taken on July 08, 2019 during countryside tour to the Golden Ring of Russia cities, Sergiyev Posad and Pereslavl-Zalessky, with my Dear clients from Australia, John and Mira Garland.
