«Forty Martyrs Church with Reflections on River Trubezh at Sunset»

Beautiful view of the Church of the Forty Martyrs with reflection on the water of the river Trubezh framed by trees at sunset. The 18th-century church stands where the river flows into the huge Plescheevo lake. No wonder, that this area became popular for local painters.

The stone church of the Forty Martyrs was constructed on the money of Moscow merchants Ivan and Maxim Schelyagins in 1755 on the site of two dilapidated wooden churches.

Photo #1043 taken on June 04, 2017 in Pereslavl-Zalessky with my dear client from Belgium, Kazuko Kawabata.
