Fountain “Goddess Night” in Gurzuf Park
The fountain of Goddess Night is located in the park of Gurzuf, in present days it is the area of Gurzufsky Sanatorium founded in late 19th century (one the of oldest health resorts on the South coast of Crimea).
Constructed by a German architect Berger, the fountain "Night" (also called as “Day and Night”) was bought in 1898 by the owner of Gurzuf resort Gubonin at Vienna fair. It presents a typical sample of the plastic art of the end of the 19th century when allegorical symbols realized in baroque forms were widely used. The fountain is situated in the center of the round pool, there are stone sinks for the falling water at the bottom. The many-figured composition is crowned with a ball which is a symbol of the celestial sphere and with a figure of Night.
