Amazing Sunset Sky Over Ascension Church Before Light Show
Beautiful autumn sunset with the cloudy sky over the most significant attraction of Kolomenskoye Estate, the tent-roof Church of Ascension, before the beginning of a light show during the Moscow International Festival “Circle of Light” in the park and museum-preserve. The exceptional Ascension Church was built in 1532 in white stone to commemorate the long-awaited birth of an heir to the throne, the future Ivan the Terrible. Being the first stone church of tent-like variety, the uncanonical "White Column" (as it is sometimes referred to) marked a stunning break from the Byzantine tradition.
