«Stunning Blue Cupolas of Trinity Cathedral in Orekhovo (Moscow)»

The central blue cupola of the one domed Cathedral of the Holy Vivifying Trinity in Orekhovo-Borisovo near Borisovo Ponds raises to the sky with a cross in height of 70 meters (230 feet). The church was built by design of architect Vladimir Kolosnitsyn in 2001-2004 in Neo-Byzantine (Byzantine Revival) style to commemorate the 1000 anniversary of Christianity in Russia. Its impressive blue cupolas (besides the main in the middle, the church has bell-tower and side chapels with smaller, but the same semi-dome shape cupolas characteristic for ancient Byzantine architecture. Shining on the sun like a blue pearl, the domes of the church can be seen far away in this area of Kashirskoe highway, on the way from/to Domodedovo airport.
