GUM Christmas Tree and New Year Decorations in Memory of1960s
During winter holidays 2015-2016, GUM building, the central mall of the country located on the Red Square, was decorated in best traditions of USSR. In the area of its central fountain it was installed a huge New Year tree decorated with garlands of huge snowflakes, fake candies, vintage Christmas greeting cards and parcels together with large firecrackers in shiny paper, Christmas balls and mandarins — the symbol of the New Year, levitate under the glass dome. From this year, GUM renewed a forgotten tradition to send New Year greetings to relatives on postcards and telegrams. Visitors of GUM mall were able to send them a message on a stylish winter blank in vintage style or sign a card and put it into a Christmas box of Russian Post at Father Frost (Russian Santa) Telegraph next to the central Christmas tree.
