Koktebel is a small settlement in Eastern part of Crimea that situated on the shore of the Black Sea about halfway between Feodosia and Sudak. From western (left) side of this quite big bay is located the Kara-Dag Mountain (literally: "Black Mount"), an ancient volcanic rock formation. Rocks at the peak of Kara-Dag rises to a height of 577 meters. It can be seen in the background of this picture at the left side. From another side of the bay is located cape Lagerny (Camp’s).

The picture was taken on the way to cape Lagerny one day before opening an annual international music festival “The Koktebel Jazz Party” in Crimea. On a beach at the eastern part of the settlement was built a big stage where leading jazz performers from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the Americas once again met together under the slogan "Five Continents Jazz!"
