Relics of The Cathedral of St. Demetrius, associated with St. Dmitri, in particular the icon ("funeral board") of St. Demetrius, are presented in The Cathedral in the form of copies. Brought to the Cathedral from the Basilica of St. Dmitry in Thessaloniki (Byzantium) in 1197 the relics were placed at the right side of the altar barrier or pillar in front of the altar.

This picture I took with my clients on the last day of 2006 during the tour to the famous Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra, which was founded in 14th century by venerable St. Sergius of Radonezh, who till nowadays considered to be the patron saint of whole Russia.
