“My home where was written The Seagull” said Anton Pavlovich Chekhov about this small and modest, but very attractive standalone house from the main building where whole his family lived in Melikhovo Estate from 1892 to 1899. In this cozy guest cottage with wooden curved windows, with grand staircase and terrace with flagstaff on the upper level the great Russian writer completing his famous “Seagull” (Rus: Chayka) in 1895 against all the rules of dramatic art . In the writer’s house Chekhov spent two hours a day to meet and cure peasants from neighbor villages and towns giving thousands of poor people free medical treatment. When a flag on the terrace was on, the peasants who were waiting his help could came in and get the treatment of all kinds of diseases.
