«Two Crows Overlooking Tsar’s Courtyard From a Cross at Sunset»

View of the two crows sitting on a gilded Orthodox Cross on the top of the bell tower in Kolomenskoye, the former royal estate situated several kilometers to the southeast of the city center of Moscow. The birds look like guards overlooking the former Tsar’s Courtyard at sunset. The rounded bell tower was built in the first half of 16th century by an unknown Italian architect in the place of a more ancient wooden church of the Kolomenskoye village and served as the belfry of the tent-roof Ascension Church.
