The Arch at the Southern Entrance

The Arch at the Southern Entrance
«The Arch at the Southern Entrance»

The beautiful monumental gates at the southern entrance of VDNKh were constructed in 1954 by project of architects V.L. Voskresensky, G.G. Lebedev and D.G. Oltarzhevskiy.

The impressive construction is close to the traditions of Palladian architecture. Its monumental portico combined with the arch is facing to the exhibition. Embodying the idea of the triumph of the collective-farm agriculture, the arch at the Southern entrance is crowned by the sculpture "Abundance" with high elevated an emblem of the Soviet Union. A frieze of the arch still is still decorated with medallion awards of participants VSHV-VDNKh exhibitions.
