Pavel Mikhaylovich Tretyakov (1832-1898)

Collector. Founder of the Tretyakovskaya gallery in Moscow. Since 1856 started collecting Russian fine arts works. Supported the innovative democratic art. Supported painters of the «Wanderers» group. In 1982 he presented his and his brothers (works of West-European artists) unique collections to the city of Moscow. Originally was buried at the St. Daniel’s monastery. In 1947 reburied at the Novodevichy cemetery.
