«The Reflection of Fortified Walls of the Novodevichy Convent»

A magnificent view of the Novodevichy convent at night from the local pond. It is one of the most famous and popular sites of Moscow city that attracts Muscovites and visitors of the Russian capital to enjoy to a walk around the pond with broad view on the beautiful white-red crenelated walls and towers of the monastery. The beauty of the monastery is truly remarkable during the evening tour, when the many lights are reflected off of the smooth surface of the lake. This monastery was built as a fortress at the end of 17th century using the money from tsarevna Sofiya, step sister of Peter the Great. The architectural ensemble of Novodevichy convent is a great example of Moscow Baroque style that was popular at that time.
