Illuminated at night with powerful spotlights the very p[reserved 17th century Church of the Intercession at Fili still boasts with its rich decorations in the style of baroque. The church was built at the area of former ancient village of Fili from 1690 until 1693 by Lev Naryshkin, Peter the Great’s uncle, at the area of his large estate. The beautiful stone cathedral was erected in Muscovite baroque style, also very often called “Naryshkin Baroque” because of it were built many churches and palaces at that time by this family, so this style became associate with the Name of Naryshkin.
