View from the back (altar part) of the Holy Sepulcher Chapel under the huge stone-tented roof of the Rotunda of Resurrection Cathedral in New Jerusalem (Voskresensky) Monastery in Istra.

The original Cathedral was founded in 1656 by church reformer Patriarch Nikon and was intended to resemble a cathedral by the same name in Jerusalem. Unfortunately, on the 10th December 1941 Nazi special troops (sappers) destroyed all the towers and temples of the great Voskresenskiy (Resurrection) monastery, leaving the Church of the Resurrection and most of the other structures in ruins. The Cathedral of the Resurrection was reopened in 2015 after extensive restoration works started in 2009. Complete restoration works in the famous monastery in Moscow region (about 60 km West of historical center of Moscow city) were finished in Autumn 2017.
