The church of St. George on the Poklonnaya Hill was built on the grounds of Victory Park, the memorial complex of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, by design of architect A. Polyanskiy in Neo-Russian style. On May 6th, 1995, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexis II consecrated this church in honor of celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Great Victory over Nazi Germany.

Grave of Olga Mravinskaya framed by Tree in Summer

The grave of Olga Mravinskaya (1844-1894), the wife of major general Mravinsky, at the eastern side of Smolensky cathedral. A beautiful angel is sitting on the black granite – a real piece of art carved from stone that attracts visitors walking on the grounds of the famous convent.
