«Gilded Wood-Carved Iconostasis of the Assumption Church»

The interior of the renovated single-domed Church of Assumption (Upsenskaya Tserkov) richly decorated with a gilded wood-carved iconostasis (Icon Screen) and frescoes. Right in the middle, in front of the main door leading to the altar, is a small stand between candle holders with the Feast Day Icon. On the day when this picture was taken, it was 4th Sunday after Pentecost celebrating Synaxis of Saints of Tver. The church was originally constructed in the second half of the 17th Century and rebuilt in 1720 after a devastating fire raised the city in 1719.

Photo #115 taken on July 18, 2016, during two-day long distance countryside tour to Suzdal with my dear clients from the USA, Andrew, and Karen Green.
