Transfiguration Cathedral

Cathedral of the Transfiguration (Spaso-Preobrazhensky cathedral) was put up in 1594 according to the traditions of Vladimir-Suzdal architecture of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. The five-domed cathedral has an ornamental band of small decorative arches divided by columns and perspective portals. The almost completely surviving murals inside the cathedral were executed in 1689 by a team of icon-painters from Kostroma led by the eminent masters Gury Nikitin and Sila Savin.

Side-chapel of St.Euthymius was built in 1607-11as a small independent church over the burial of the founder of the monastery.
