Architectural Ensemble of St. Euthymius Monastery of Our Savior

The monastery of Our Savior and Saint Euthymius (Spaso-Yevfimiyev Monastery) located in the northern part of Suzdal on a high bank of the river Kamenka was founded in 1352. Behind the high walls of the monastery stands the magnificent architectural ensemble consisted from the Cathedral of the Transfiguration (Spaso-Preobrazhensky cathedral) built in 1594 (the church with green domes in the middle of the picture), the monastery’s bell tower with three arched bays built in 16th – 17th centuries (at the right on this picture) and the tent-shaped Church of the Assumption (Uspenskaya Church) constructed in 1525 (at the left on this picture).
